Don’t Despise the Small Beginning

August 10, 2026

We often celebrate the finished thing.

The answered prayer.
The open door.
The dream finally coming together.
The moment when everything makes sense.

But we don’t talk as much about the beginning.

The beginning can feel small. Quiet. Uncertain. Sometimes it can even feel insignificant compared to the vision in your heart.

You may look at what you’re doing and wonder, Is this really making a difference? Is this really where I’m supposed to be?

But Scripture reminds us:

“Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin.” — Zechariah 4:10

God cares about beginnings.

A small step can become a journey.
A simple prayer can become a deeper relationship with Him.
One act of obedience can open a door you never expected.
One seed can eventually become something you couldn’t have imagined when you first planted it.

We don’t always get to see what our small beginnings will become.

And maybe that’s okay.

Maybe our job isn’t to make the beginning look impressive. Maybe it’s simply to be faithful with what God has placed in our hands today.

So if you’re starting something new, keep going.

If you’re rebuilding, keep building.

If you’re taking baby steps toward something you’ve prayed about, don’t be ashamed of how small they seem.

And if all you managed to do today was get back up and try again, don’t overlook that either.

Small doesn’t mean meaningless.

God can do something beautiful with what feels insignificant in our hands.

Today’s Prayer

Father,

Thank You for reminding me that I don’t have to see the finished picture to appreciate where I am today. Help me to be faithful with the small things. Give me patience with the process and courage to keep going when the beginning doesn’t look like I imagined. Help me remember that You can take something small and make it more than I ever could.

Amen.

Grace Challenge

Look at one small thing you’re doing today that you’ve been tempted to overlook.

Instead of calling it “not enough,” thank God for the opportunity to begin.

Then take the next small step.

That’s enough for today.

A Little Encouragement Before You Go

Friend, don’t give up simply because you’re still at the beginning.

You may not see the growth yet.
You may not see the impact yet.
You may not see how all the pieces will come together.

But beginnings matter.

Keep planting. Keep praying. Keep showing up.

One day, you may look back at the thing that once seemed so small and realize that God was building something beautiful all along.

Your beginning doesn’t have to be big to be blessed.

Wherever you are today, take the next step with faith and leave the rest in His hands.

You are growing.
You are becoming.
You are exactly where you need to be for this moment.

And through every beginning, every setback, and every new chapter—

you are Held by His Grace.

With grace,
♡ Brittni
